Meet the person behind Same Kiti

Hello, I’m Maureen.

Same Kiti is a food and nutrition project by Maureen Marion, based in Lukenya, Kenya.

Same Kiti starts with busy Kenyan mums: family meals, portion awareness and making space for your own wellbeing in a full day. Working adults are welcome here too.

I studied Community Nutrition at Kenya Medical Training College’s Karen campus and gained hands-on experience through placements at Kenyatta National Hospital and Homa Bay Referral Hospital, followed by volunteering in nutrition departments at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital and Kariobangi South Health Facility. With Same Kiti, I bring that background to everyday family life: familiar ingredients, manageable portions and meals that fit your budget. My aim is to make eating well feel practical and achievable.

Small steps in the kitchen

A little planning
goes a long way.

Start with your cupboard, your household and the food you enjoy. These simple prompts can help you plan your next shop.

Start with what you already have

Check your cupboards before writing a shopping list. Choose a meal that uses ingredients you already own, and note what you need to complete it.

Choose ingredients that work twice

Think of two meals that use the same fresh ingredient. Planning how to use the whole cabbage or bunch of greens can help avoid unused food.

Look at the cost of the whole shop

A recipe’s portion cost is different from the amount you must pay at the shop. Plan around the full packs or quantities you need to buy today.

Let’s take the next step

Good food.
A personal approach.
